In 1809, the United Kingdom issued the first patent certificate on the fountain pen, which marked the official birth of the pen.

In the early storage pens, the ink did not flow freely. The person writing the paper presses the piston, and the ink begins to flow. After writing for a while, it has to be pressed again, otherwise the ink will not flow out. It is of course inconvenient to write the words in this way.

In 1829, the British James Beneley successfully developed the tip of the pen. It has been specially processed, smooth and flexible, and it is quite smooth in writing, and it is very popular among people. However, such pens must be very troublesome to write in ink.

By 1884, an employee of a US insurance company, Wattman, invented a method of supplying ink with a capillary to better solve the above problems. The pen end of the pen can be removed and the ink is injected with a small dropper.

The earliest pen that was able to absorb ink by itself appeared in the early 20th century and took a piston to absorb ink. When the skin is used in the pen, a piece of iron is inserted into a slit to squeeze the skin to absorb the ink. By 1952, a Schnecker pen with a tube extending into the ink had appeared, and it was not until 1956 that the commonly used capillary pen was invented. There are also some art pens and so on.
